Agrarian Leader Zapata
Rivera and other social realists inspired a rediscovery and reevaluation of native cultures and traditions by depicting it in their work. Rivera became fascinated with Indian culture when he visited the Maya region of the Yucatan in 1921 and again in 1922 when he visited the Maya region of Tehuantepec.
